Synopsis
“Happy Summer” is an adult-oriented game featuring explicit content such as nudity and sexual scenes. Unlike full 3D graphics, the game utilizes pre-rendered 2D images, some of which are subtly animated. This indie project can be classified as a visual novel with elements of life simulation and dating.
Gameplay primarily involves reading numerous dialogues and monologues, as well as viewing images. Occasionally, you’re presented with dialogue choices or actions to take. You can also decide which room to visit next, although the actual movement isn’t shown – your character simply transitions to a different static screen. The story revolves around the relationships of a 37-year-old man with various women. The protagonist lives in a large house with his 19-year-old daughter, Rosie, as they have been abandoned by the mother four years ago.
The protagonist strives to take care of his relative, while Rosie aspires to become a writer. Additionally, the story introduces Lucy, the sister of the main character, who will soon move into his residence. At the beginning of the game, you have the option to change their roles, for instance, making one of the women your new wife and the other a close friend. Besides these two characters, you can interact with other NPCs in the game.

There are hundreds of similar novels with RPG elements and free planning of the day on Renpy, but there are only about a dozen or one and a half good ones, and in my opinion this game is somewhere at the end of this conditional list of favorites. Its main, and I’m afraid only, feature is the unusual character models – they seem to be a little doll-like (in a good and beautiful sense). It seems that I have never seen a similar style. And so the game is standard, the plot is very simple, I mean it just is, but there are no secrets, mysticism, hidden threat, or Evil that is trying to take over the World – the whole plot is just everyday life with the development of relationships, so whether you like the game or not – directly depends on whether you like the characters.
